morning to night

i need to do exterior animation were the enviroment change from morning to night. can anyone help me give me some tips or link ware i can learn more about how to modifie the light and enviromet.

is the camera going to be static or animated?

I would do two different animations with different lights and fade them togetter in some composition program...

daylight system

have you thought about using the daylight system in max? That way it will be a realistic simulation of the sun angles in your particular location. The idea of compositing two different animations is good but you won't get your shadows to travel across surfaces like they would in reality.
