  • Task Chair Modelling

    hi can anyone tell me the best way to model a task chair base as i am having difficulty in getting it right. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

    I'd say that if you're familiar with it, poly modelling would be the easiest way.

      yeah i have tried that but cannot get the shape, i am starting with a cylinder with 5 sides then extrude these faces to get the star shape, but struggling to merge the cylindrical ends and get the smoothing and profile correct

        Start with a leg, do the middle later.

        Here's a leg I did for a 4 pronged one a while back. easy to adjust for 5. note the circle spline in the center used as a guide - this was drawn so that I could adjust the vertices of the lower edit polys by eye. when doing poly modeling, always make reference splines with the arcs/curves you're trying to make. moving verts which aren't evenly spaced by eye trying to get a consistent curve is a nightmare. keep meshsmooth and poly cage on.
