just start with vray,a lots of doubts

Hello everyone, just start to do some attempt with vray 3 , my cpu is a 8350 @4,1 ghz with 16 gb ram, my feeling is the render is very slow and noise, i've watched the site of bbb3 and he produce rendering very clear and sharped with time that it took from 2h to 6 h,so my question is: it's possible that his workstation intel z820 is more and more powerful of mine?
I have seen some tutorial about linear workflow but with 3dsmax, it's possible setting gamma output to 1.0?and there is a corrispettive of inverse gamma for the hdri for increase the shadow?
