  • How to use a generated proxy into other .blends?

    Hi,
let's say i generate a proxy in one file, Attach Mode set to 'None' since i don't need the proxy in the very same file but want to import it into another one.
Can someone explain the procedure? Because all i get is Vray rendering the low res, triangulated mesh object (the one which should be useful to get more responsive viewport..)

A quick little guide would be awesome.

    Blender 2.75, Vray 2.0
    Thanks

      Hi,
i did everything right except the "MyProxy" selection in the Object properties, that did the trick and now the mesh renders nice, thanks!

      Two questions:
      - Now proxy has no material though, i exported it with two materials, leaves and bark, but renders white, how to load materials it had? (keep in mind i have attached the Blender Object Material to the Object Output)
      - side question, is it possible to know how much memory it is taking? (to compare proxy vs full mesh)...How can i activate a sort of log windows apart from the frame buffer, like in Max?

        1. Proxy do not store materials, only mesh data; materials are taken from the object proxy is attached to; so simply copy the materials from the original object (order matters!)
        2. Use Blender's console window: Top Menu -> Window -> Toggle System Console (you will only see the difference if you will have a lot of proxy object; try particle system with/without proxy object)
