So what happens when I open and render an old scene which uses VRayEdgesTex for bumps? Will it render the same as before?
It will render similar. I thought about whether to leave the old method for old scenes, but eventually decided against it. Still, if during the beta users find out that it is best to keep the old method for old scenes, we'll do that for the release.
Frankly though, one of the worst things I can imagine to happen is having to open a years old project for some belated changes and not being able to render it identically - especially when you just have to re-render a couple of frame-ranges.
