Yes its correct, object node tree. You had everything correct on the first image, just change Noise node to Noise 3ds max node and delete Channel node if you didnt unwrapped your object.

I think you might still be using the wrong node type for noise. Here is a working example. (oops, I was responding to an earlier post. I see you got the right one now, glad to hear!)
