yes, it is possible. You could use Multi ID node. select mode to Face Material. Plug the texture to each slot that corresponding to its "material face group". and then for each "material face group" choose the same material node tree.
select and assign you "material face group" and each one of them select the same material node tree
choose multi id node and plug the texture to each slot
But in this way it's possible assign different material in the same object,not different texture in the same material like in the plugin multitexture for 3ds
yes it is also possible. i'm not sure about multitexture plugin, since i never use it. but for different material in one object, you could use multi id node (another one, we have two by the way). shift+A, material, and multi id. this one has slots for plugging in material in it. the method is still the same, select faces and assign. and don't forget to select the same material node tree.
