Z-Depth black?

i'm not sure about this, but how to make z-depth work? i have tried to change black and white distance to whatever amount, it still renders black.
i think it works for me on 2.76 built

strange, for me it works fine, do you use metric system?

thanks. yes, i am using metric system.
ah, i get it working now by just unchecking depth from camera and filtering.
