  • Necklace draped over a bust

Hi, I am looking for a tutorial(s) how to go about draping a necklace with pendant over a bust or female model.

    All help greatly appreciated!

I would at least buy her a drink first bro. See what happens from there...

      Now, that's funny.

I work in arch-viz, so I am no pro at your kind of work, however, have you looked into the conform tool?

          Hi Bobby,

Yes I did, but didn't had much luck with it.
The short coming might be on my side and having a lack of knowledge with the tool.

I always tried MassFX, but the links to my chain flew off all over the place instead of draping over the model.
Once again, I am sure its user error and not program error.

How accurate does this have to be? Is the necklace modeled already? If you have the jewelry modeled in a straight line, you could try and path deform it along a spline that you shape to fit as closely as you can, draped around the neck. If the necklace is already shaped in a circle, I'd rotate and position it as closely as possible and then use FFD boxes to adjust for the various slopes in the bust.

If the bust is modeled cleanly, you could try and pull off an edge loop, turn it into a spline and use that for the geometry to path follow.

If it needs to be animated:
What SCENE units are you using? (not display units). I've had better success when I change my scene units to cm, instead of my usual meter
              Kind Regards,
              Morne

Thanks Brendan I will give those a try.

The pendant and necklace is modeled and in a straight line.

My system units is set to mm Morné.
From the tuts I have watch on MassFX, it does seem as if it prefers cm.

Also possibly using pflow and mparticles with glue constraints.
It is a bit of a setup, http://www.orbaz.com/visualguide/par...ape_Chain.html
