  • Consistent Mapping Scale Triplanar Texture Node

    Hey guys.

    Does anyone know how to achieve consistent scale across multiple objects using Triplanar Texture node?

    There isn't anything in VRay Blender help about the node and VRay Max help says:
    "Reference to another node – The projection is done in the local space of another node in the scene. If no node is specified, world space is used. This mode is useful when several objects need to be mapped with the same triplanar texture and to show consistent mapping."

    Maybe a more accurate question would be what is the best way to use the scale setting? Like, is the texture repeated per BU? If your settings are Metric, does a texture repeat every meter? If my units are Imperial, then would it repeat every foot?

    I'm having a hard time setting an accurate "real world size" for Blender.

    I'm sorry, it does exactly that.

    Uses Metric units (BU) and repeats the texture every meter.

    I use Imperial, since I'm in the U.S. Is this something that can be corrected, or am I stuck converting Metric to Imperial? I'm not sure if that can be fixed by Chaos or is up to Blender Foundation.

      make experiment, create your ouwn checker lets say checker stile (two squeres black, two wite), than create cube 1x1x1foot. another 2x2x2foots size, and apply your material. and see what you get.

        I did. I had a node plugged in wrong.

        1 World Unit is 1 meter, no matter what. I use Imoerial, though.

        The Triplanar Texture node uses Metric (or BU) no matter what units are specified. Currently, I am wondering if Chaos can make the units change to Imperial or if it's a Blender units thing Blender Foundation has to change.
