  • Bitmap Texture/Buffer gone?

    Hey, guys.

So, all I can seem to find is the Image Texture node. My lighting setup uses a Bitmap Texture (?) node and a Bitmap Buffer node.

Are these gone? Like, I can't find them anywhere, which now makes me wonder how I set up the IBL lighting in my base scene. It's been a while and I can't remember.

The nodes in question are highlighted.

    Thank you.

I noticed that too. It's merely that bitmap and bitmap buffer nodes are redundant, and have been replaced by the combination of the three (includes UV map options too) in the image texture node. That new node should have what you need.

Actually, I wonder if it's the lack of those two old nodes that is the reason the converter tool is broken (the one that converts from internal blender materials to vray nodes.) That converter used the bitmap buffer and bitmap texture nodes. Now it just returns errors and stops when it encounters a texture.

        Hey, andybot_cg.

Thank you for looking as well. I really appreciate that. I totally thought it was me, but wasn't sure.

I started this thread asking because using the image texture node alone, I can't get an HDRI to rotate around the World Z axis at all. I reset Blender to Factory just to have it fresh, and when I was rebuilding my base scene, I used the Image Texture node and any combo of mapping (UV, Environment Spherical, 3DS Max Spherical, VRay Spherical, etc.) and the Matrix node and it's a no go. The Transform mapping node will rotate, but I guess I don't understand what's going on because that does not give any sort of desired results.

If there is a chance, could this link be checked?:

Specifically, the HDRI Rotation and IBL links on that page. Something isn't working right...

        Anyway, thank you so much.

It's simpler than that The rotation is set by the Z rotation of the hemi light in the model.

You're totally right. Thanks, andybot. I didn't mean to waste anyone's time.

            I really appreciate it.
