1. You need to open the Material Browser (located on the V-Ray for Revit toolbar)
2. Select any material and switch from AutoGen to VRayMaterial. You will need to browse to a vrmat.
3. After a .vrmat is selected click on the "Edit V-Ray Material" icon which appears right next to the name of the selected material. This will launch the vrmat editor. You can use it to edit existing materials as well as to create new ones. From a user point of view it works similarly to 3D Max, i.e. you can use it to create materials the same way as you create them in 3D Max.
