V-Ray 1.5 vs V-Ray 3.5 take 2

Here is another set of images. This is an Evermotion scene (ArchExteriors 28, scene #5). Here V-Ray 3.5 rendered the scene 4 times faster with less noise and better quality. The V-Ray 1.5 image "features" light leaks and other artifacts due to the missing "retrace" functionality for the light cache with no way to fix them.

Why are the cars so dark in the 1.5 scene?

Some texture is not supported or works differently in 3ds Max 2012.

Interesting to know that this scene now takes 4 hours on modern hardware, what was the render time back then? this was what 5 years ago?

What an amazing progress!
So with the denoiser it would be 8 times the speed of 1.5 maybe.
