  • Glowing/ Backlit material in vray

I am trying to make a glowing or backlit panel in vray/max 6. I have not had any luck for the past several hours. Does anybody have any tips on this?

Hi Jake and welcome to the Forum ..

what you can do is use a self-illuminated standard material.. and wrap it with a vray mat wrapper and give it a gi output of around 2-4...

or if you are using the new vray .. use the new vray light material.. which is a lot easier.

have a play and post your results

    regards

You could try using a standard material, in the illumination map slot put an output map ramp up the RGB levels to get the intensity of the light you are looking for. Start off with about 1.2.

If you want coloured light simply put the colour you want into the self illumination swatch.

Thanks for the advice Natty and Numbutt. I can post the image in October when it is not confidential.
