  • modelling corinthian details

    hi all,
i am trying to model a villa for the first time in Max i have read the interior modelling tutorial here on evermotion by 3d visionary.and i have understood the basics of box modelling.but the problem here is that this villa is very ornamental in character.i mean it has arches ,cornices, corinthian type columns and wrought iron details in railings i am stuck now once i started with box primitive .do i have to use boolean to create arches or there is any other way. also this villa will have a pitched roof with terracotta tiles.do i need to model them or a texture will do.please anyone has good roof texture to show terracotta roof
any tutorial regarding modeeling these kinds of details(arches cornicesetc etc.) will be helpful.
    hey guys please help

    regards

    Hello haneet22,

Vray has a function called "displacement". This is a perfect solution for your job. Just search the forum for displacement and roof. You will find some information concerning this method.
Displacement means: you can paint a black/white colored image (in photoshop, etc.) and map it onto your roof. VRay then displaces the geometry just the way the discplacement map ist painted (while rendering). This results in very nice Roof tiles!!!

You can also use this method to displace some ornamental figures in the walls of your house. Just draw the high/depth (white/black) information into a bitmap and use this for displacement.
Displacement (also known as "micro-triangle-displacement!" or MTD) works extremely good in VRay!
