  • How to use Xref in 3ds max to render multiple cameras

    Hello everyone,

I've made a tutorial where I show how to use Xref inside 3ds max to setup different camera shots.
The idea is to use one geometry scene so you can easily make geometry changes (child scene) and have all the objects xreffed
into your camera setup scenes (master scenes). On your camera setup scenes you can compute different caching required to render,
setup your lights, hide layers, add new objects, delete objects etc...

Here's the video I created to show how this work and also show how to get the scene rendered on our farm:

If you want to move the X-Ref around in your new scene, you can use a Dummy instead of a box to bind it to, then you will never have to worry about this box rendering by mistake, casting unwanted shadows, or having to make it "unrenderable" and forgetting to do so, which will not come up in your sanity check.
