Velocity Pass

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to comp a Velocity pass from vray/3dsmax into AE?

I remember I used to do this back in the day, using the velocity pass as a track matte for a blur, got the idea years ago from this:

Nowadays, honestly, I just use the pixel motion blur. It does a pretty good job and i think its pretty quick. No extra plugins or passes. Note: I'm not a post production wiz or anything, I just do enough to get by.
