  • Export 3Ds Max vrmats to Sketchup (Vray)

    Greetings,

i would appreciate any detailed guidance of exporting/importing vrmats materials from 3Ds Max to Sketchup (Vray 3.6).
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hey Artch,
First, be sure to set Vray as your current renderer, then under Tools, pick V-ray Vrmat Converter...usually the last menu item. You'll see a few different choices come up. I usually pick one of the bottom two. The 'Pick & convert Material' option lets you choose a single shader to convert, while 'convert scene' will do all scene materials at once. Works pretty decent since Vfs was upgraded to 3. You'll still see some problems with more advanced shader networks here and there, but generally its pretty easy to work out. Some materials just need to get dumbed down...a few maps/procedurals don't translate over. As far as going the other way, from SU to Max....I have no idea...haven't done that before.

    Cheers,
    GD
