  • Placement method inconsistant

Riddle me this. Why is placing assets always change. Sometimes you can drag and drop, other times you need to double-click on the asset then drag and drop, others clicking the Import button. Just getting inefficient and frustrating. 3ds MAX 2024 and the latest version of Vray.

Hi, thanks for posting. If you have downloaded the model then pushing the import button or drag and dropping is the same.
If you haven't downloaded the asset the you have to click download first and then import or drag and drop.

I always downloaded first before dragging and dropping.

D&D should be instant. Can you please record a video of your problem?

You don't mention which application you're having this problem in but could part of the inconsistency you are having be related to the bug in 3ds max where you can't drag and drop (merge) anything (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-m...k/td-p/8563112)? I have encountered this repeatedly in Max 2020 and Cosmos. A somewhat workaround is to drag it onto the Move Transform Type-In dialog box although this will always merge it to the origin.
