Cosmos for Houdini (20.0.506) doesnt load Online assets

  • Cosmos for Houdini (20.0.506) doesnt load Online assets

    I installed V-ray for Houdini 20.0.506 and it works perfectlly fine,
    but Cusmos doesnt load any assets.

    it says its offline mode, and i have to change settings to go to see assets,
    but theres no way to activate the Online.

    Proxy Connection is set to default(Automatic proxy detection), and i put my account in it, doesnt work.
    what should i do to see and download assets in Cosmos?
    is there anything im missing?


    im using

    V-Ray for Houdini hash:82c1b12 from 19 Feb 2024 10:51
    V-Ray Core 6.20.05 [31923cf8] from 17 Feb 2024​

    Operating system is Windows 11 Pro 23H2

    Can you please try to set Proxy Connection to None?

      Hello akinari_konno, There are a few reasons you might be seeing this issue, and depending on the cause, the troubleshooting steps will be different. The first thing we should check is whether everything is okay in the Chaos Cosmos configuration file.

      To do this, follow these steps:
      1. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ChaosCosmos.
      2. Look for config.json and open it in Notepad.
      3. Check if "offline": false is set. If it’s set to true, change it to false and save the file.

        i checked the config.json and the offline was set to false.
        i also tried set proxy connection to none and didnt work.
        everytime i change the proxy setting, seems it try to load something, but ends up run in offline mode.


        i tried open cosmos from start menu, and it didnt launced.
        also tried open cbservice.exe in chaos cosmos folder and didnt launced.

        is this something to do with cosmos itself installed?
        (ive been using v-ray for maya2024 and v-ray 2018, so cosmos might have been installed before i installed v-ray for houdini)​

          Could you check if your antivirus software or Windows Firewall is blocking the service? You can try disabling it temporarily to see if Chaos Cosmos works

            i disabled the Firewall and tried, and now it shows this screen.
            i also tried installing latest Cosmos Browser version but didnt work again.

              is there anything i should ask IT Team in my office to make it work? like proxy setting or etc

                If you are contacting the IT team in your office, you can ask them to whitelist the following domains related to the Chaos Cosmos service:
                • cosmos.chaos.com
                • content-cdn.chaosgroup.com
                • accounts.chaosgroup.com
                • ssooauth.chaosgroup.com
                • ssogateway.chaosgroup.com​​​​
