  • Can't make network deployment work

    I followed the explanation in:

    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...load+Directory

    And changed the path from:
    "working_dir":"C:\\Users\\[user]\\Documents\\Chaos Cosmos"}
    to
    "working_dir":"U:\\system\\chaos_cosmos"}

    is this correct? U is a network mapped drive ( that is available ) but won't save anything there and won't actually show anything when oppening the browser.
    checked the service, and tried to reboot the service, but won't actually start after changing the path.

    "Restart the Cosmos Browser Service (CCBService) from Task Manager > Services."

    when try to start the service gives a ( error 1067:The process terminated unexpectedly. )
    Tried with UNC path giving the server name but, won't work either, maybe I got the syntax wrong?

    If we can't deploy it, we can't use it for network effectively....

    Hello houoruin,

    Using network mapped drives as asset storage in Chaos Cosmos is still at an experimental stage. If you could send the CCBService log file (C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ChaosCosmos\cb.log) to support@chaosgroup.com along with a description of the problem and your setup, we will be able to look into it in more detail.

    Thanks,
    Mihail

      Oh I see, I just sent it now.

      Well doesn't need to be a mapped drive. but could be a network path too... just I don't know how to write the syntax. Anyways mapped is better for my case though.

      Thank you!

        Had the exact same issue, it looks to be a problem with mapped drives. Switching to full UNC path works, just make sure if you're specifying paths to do it with escape characters so \\\\serverName\\Share\\Directory1\\Directory2

          Thank you! I'll give a try that way.

            UNC paths are not supported either, see https://www.chaosgroup.com/support/f...-network-setup for details.

            However, we're working on a solution that supports all kinds of network storage and shared setups and I hope we'll be able to deliver it soon, stay tuned for updates.

            Regards,
            Mihail

              Actually checking it again it doesn't actually work, its just that the Cosmos service is no longer throwing an error. The browser itself show an error screen.

                Same issue here. Our team all work off a mapped drive y: all pointing to a box sync folder we all share from different cities around Australia. Hopefully we can all use Cosmos one of these days.

                The troubleshooting page for cosmos makes out we can put any path in the config.json file.
                Can I suggest you actually add that information about network paths not working so we don't waste time wondering why its not working?

                Specifically this page: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...load+Directory

                  I tried this with the new Vray 5.2 and still can't setup a UNC path on the "Downloads folder directory"

                  https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/a...network-setup-

                  but reading this, seems like this should be fixed. I get the error message ( The entered working directory does not exist. )

                  What am I doing wrong?

                  edit:
                  a network path, seems to work, but not a UNC one.
