  • How to attach files that are loaded with Cosmos blocks

I would like to understand how to share .3dm files with Cosmos content, what is the correct way to share information packages in Rhino such as 3D models, loaded textures, and Cosmos blocks.
Since when receiving project information, it generates this warning window in Cosmos

    Hello rubendariog18,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

First of all note that there is a tool to archive all used assets in a project in order to fully transfer it to another machine. In the V-Ray menu there is a Pack Project option - please take a look at our documentation for more details.

When you use the Pack Project option, a pop-up message appears asking you whether or not to pack Cosmos asset files with the project. Packing the assets ensures that textures and other external files referenced by Cosmos assets are collected and included in the archive. As a result, the project will be loaded and rendered correctly on other systems even if the same Cosmos assets are not downloaded there.
If you select not to pack - Cosmos assets will still be available for download on the destination computer even if they are not included in the archive.

As for the warning you receive when opening the file - most likely you need to align your V-Ray version with the version that the file was created with. It is important that you either use the same version or newer.
In the command line I see that your V-Ray version is 6.20.06 - was this project created with V-Ray 6 or perhaps with V-Ray 7? Note that V-Ray is not forward compatible, meaning that you will not be able to open your scene that was created with the newer version in the older version without V-Ray data loss. Consider updating to the latest V-Ray 7 for Rhino, hotfix 3.

I hope this information is helpful.
