  • [Bridge] Installation removes vray7 sketchup 2024-Pro and vice-versa

    When I installed the beta for windows 11/vray7 on sketchup, it removed the vray installation. When I reinstalled the vray, it removed the Envision beta from Sketchup's menus {sighs dramatically}

    Add Programs utility in Windows shows that both are still considered "installed".

    Update: I also installed Bridge for sketchup and it appears it was this that removed one or other of the apps. I initially struggled to export a vrscene from sketchup that would load in Envision, so I thought Bridge was required for the beta and installed it. Now, without it, both are working again.

    Consider this issue closed, but I'm leaving the post up in case someone else sees a similar issue.

    Hi Brett,

    Chaos Bridge is meant for users who don't have neither V-Ray, nor Enscape. It lets them export vrscene files that can then be loaded to Envision.
    If you have V-Ray for SketchUp, you're already able to export .vrscene files, so you don't need the Chaos Bridge. And if you attempt to install it, it will remove your V-Ray installation (as stated in the documentation here).

    So, it's either V-Ray or Chaos Bridge. I hope this helps.

    Regards,

      ... but why?
      Also, a warning during installation might be helpful... "Attention, you have V-Ray installed. Installing Bridge will uninstall V-Ray. Do you want to continue?"

        I agree. We could add such a warning.
