  • Project Lavina beta v0.1.0 is now live!

    Welcome everyone!

    We're excited to announce the first beta of Project Lavina! It is a 100% ray traced, real-time standalone application that allows viewing and exploring scenes authored within V-Ray enabled content creation products. It allows basic manipulation of objects, lights and cameras. Additionally, you can merge several scenes together, create camera bookmarks and render high quality, fully ray traced images.

    To download the build please visit the following link:

    We strongly recommend using an DXR enabled graphics card, that has dedicated ray tracing cores. At this moment I recommend using at least GeForce RTX 2060 Super or better:
    • Quadro RTX 8000;
    • Quadro RTX 6000;
    • Quadro RTX 5000;
    • Quadro RTX 4000;
    • Nvidia Titan RTX;
    • GeForce RTX 2080 Ti; GeForce RTX 2080 Super; GeForce RTX 2080;
    • GeForce RTX 2070 Super; GeForce RTX 2070;
    • GeForce RTX 2060 Super;
    • The mobile versions of the above are also supported and provide somewhat diminished performance;

    The additional requirements are:
    • 8 GB or more RAM
    • Microsoft® Windows® 10 RS5 (version 1809), update from October 2018, build 17763 or later
    • Render Node with License Server 4.5.1 or newer
    • NVidia driver 436.02 or newer

    To get started, we have provided a series of quick start videos here:

    It is better to provide a sample vrscene file for testing from CHAOS GROUP.

    Best wishes,

      For now, we wish users to test their own scenes and report the issues they find with them.

        As you said, it was the "beta test" phase. I also experiment a lot.

          I remember NVidia told that RTX will be enabled on non-RTX cards. Is it the case? Or Lavina works only with RTX cards?

            Yes, technically you can run Lavina on a Pascal card (GTX 1060 or better), but at significantly lower framerates because of the lack of RT cores on the GPU. It requires driver 425 or newer. We recommend using the latest drivers anyway.
