  • Need ability to view existing cams from Max export

Its working fast and smooth so far and overall liking where its heading.

As an added feature, we would for sure need the ability to view existing cams. I see there are slots to save views to "cams", but I cant see a way to use the cams I already had in Max...
    Kind Regards,

We don't export multiple cameras from 3ds Max, but it's planned.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Can the UI for the cameras please be changed as Lavina progresses in development? The values for aperture and field of view just make no sense. Focal length in Millimeter and aperture in F-Stops would be the way to go in my opinion.

Yes, we've already planned showing F-number instead of mm for aperture (it's a bit weird right now because it's a pinhole camera, not a physical camera).

However, I'm a bit surprised that field of view in degrees "makes no sense". Again, this is related to using a simple pinhole camera in the initial version.

While it might sound intuitive to express FOV in "millimeters", we would have to knight a particular film-back (today a sensor size). The "value" of a mm differs, for example, between every camera type (e.g., 35mm, 35mm cropped, large format, cinematic, video, etc) while FOV in degrees is constant.

Sorry, my initial post was a bit misleading. The FOV in millimeters is not a common value for most people. I have no idea what a FOV of 45° looks like, but I can easily tell how a 45mm lens on a full-frame sensor should look. Maybe it would be better to stick to values most users have a reference to.

My opinion is that we should just implement the most important functionality of the V-Ray Physical Camera inside Lavina.
