My first impression for Lavina is that its quite similar to what Enscape was when it was launched, emphasis on the visual quality, but not so much on UX. This is especially true when working with project that has large extents (urban scale visualization), there needs to be some toggle for acceleration and user-selected camera. When you first open the file you should be in navigation mode, shouldn't need to hit W to walk. I think it will be helpful for you guys to reference Enscape, they have done a great job refining the UX so any dummy(ahem, clients) can use it.
