  • Lavina is basically GPU rendering right?

    Hi guys

So I'm not understanding this. How can Max render a scene with GPU at 1080p and take 40 minutes,
but Lavina same scene with same hardware at 4K only take 2minutes?

Another similar scene Max and VRay GPU stops because out of Ram, but again, Lavina happily renders it in about 3 minutes?

In general, Project Lavina's renderer isn't doing as much shading work as V-ray GPU does, so it's going to be faster. Then as a result, far less time is spent shading, allowing the RTX cores to have more of an impact (since they only accelerate ray casting).
As for the memory, it's possible that Max was taking up some of the memory. Also, if you're using displacement, then you'd be paying for its memory in Max but not in Lavina since it doesn't support it.

We'd be happy to examine your scene if you want some specifics.

What Phil said, but also it's possible that you are not rendering to the exact same noise threshold.
Little changes there can lead to a lot of additional render time.
