  • Simple interior on 1070Ti

So I have a fairly new system. AMD 1950 with 64 GB of RAM. But it has nvidia 1070Ti 8GB...so no raytracing. I loaded a rather simple interior scene and got about 3fps. So pretty terrible. Would changing a graphic card to something like 2080 with also 8GB RAM be a big difference? I don't think I'm experiencing Lavinia as I should with a non RTX card, but I need a confirmation.
    Thanks

Yes, even without RT cores 2080 has more TFLOPS (~ 10 vs 8 ) and much more memory bandwidth (448 vs 256). Then add the RT cores which make ray intersection many times faster. So it would be a night-and-day difference in framerate. If you're not sure you want to spend the money, see if you could borrow an RTX card for a day from someone. Also keep in mind there will be a new generation of GPUs which we expect would be much faster still, compared to the current RTX cards.
