  • Improve timeline gui

    Hi guys,

I'm sure it's on your to-do list, but I'm really struggling with the timeline GUI. Just navigating it seems very difficult & unintuitive. There don't appear(?) to be any navigation buttons (zoom extents, zoom, etc), and I'm not sure of keyboard/mouse shortcuts (to pan along the timeline, etc).

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hello Macker,

Yes, we plan to improve the UX of the timeline editor. There are no buttons for navigation at the moment. You can find some info on the available shortcuts in the docs page here:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ditor-Timeline

    Basically:
Mouse wheel up/down – scrolls through the timeline if it does not fit the screen
Alt+Mouse wheel up/down – zooms in and out of the timeline.

One thing to be aware is that the timeline cannot zoom out further than the duration of all currently placed clips. Additionally, for the zooming & panning functionality, do you prefer buttons, shortcuts or both?

    Best regards,
    Simeon

      Both, I think!

I appreciate my feedback isn't particularly helpful because I don't have a clue about GUI design, but something about it at the moment doesn't feel quite right. I like the timeline in software like Premiere Pro (video) & Cubase (music) - perhaps look at how they implement it? I don't know.
