  • Will Lavina benefit from DLSS 2 from Nvidia?

    Hi,
Recently I heard a lot about NVIDIA DLSS 2, that they can help increase the resolution of realtimes for game rendering engine etc.
Will Lavina benefit from Dlss 2 from Nvidia?
With the latest generation like RTX like 3080- Besides the power from the number of cuda, rtcores and tenser cores, DLSS 2 will greatly improve FPS from realtime raytracing and increase resolution with input resolution of 720p or 1080p but the output has be it 2K, 4K etc ..?

We experimented with DLSS 2, but it looks like it doesn't quite fit our usage scenario. It is made for games and requires that each frame is relatively smooth and noise-free; in our case we are using path tracing and feeding noisy images to DLSS didn't work well. Also, DLSS only looks a few frames back whereas in Lavina we can accumulate many hundreds of frames if the camera is still; DLSS didn't handle that very well either and tended to produce jagged results that were no better than dumb upscaling.

We will be looking into upscaling again at some point, but probably we'll use something other than DLSS.

    Best regards,

      Thanks Vlado,
Your answer helped me understand some of my mitstake about DLSS.
Looking forward to new features from Lavina, we are playing around with it and discovering many possibilities.
