I got a scene to export, yippy! My question is, the quality isn't usable. Do I keep increasing the bounces until I am happy?

What do you mean by "quality" exactly ?

It is a pixelated mess. I cranked the settings up, but it still can’t be used. I’ll post something shortly.

By pixelated I guess you mean noisy, like GI noise ?

              Thanks for the video.

You are right in your assessment that Vantage works more similarly to V-Ray's CPU/GPU progressive rendering than to a game engine.
We are also developing Vision which comes with SketchUp and Rhino and is closer to a game engine.

As for what you can do to try and improve the result:
              - enable the denoiser for the snapshot render (the "keep denoiser" checkbox).
              - actually lower the number of bounces if that's feasible i.e. doesn't make your image too dark. This will speed up the rendering.
              - if possible render at a lower resolution.
              - in the "Advanced" roll-out of the Lights tab, increase the "light tree samples" to something like 2,3,4.
This will slow down the rendering, but will most likely decrease the noise quite a bit also.
              - increase the number of "samples" in the snapshot dialog - of course this might make the rendering too slow for your purposes.
              - watch the FPS in the lower right corner as you change settings, these are basically your "samples per second", so the higher
you get them the faster your final/animation rendering will be.
              - an RTX 3090 GPU will most likely be twice as fast as your Titan RTX.

What we can and plan to do for some of the next versions:

              - include the nVidia OptiX and or V-Ray's own denoiser for final rendering in Vantage.
These are slower than the Vantage denoiser but supposedly have better quality.

              - improve the direct light sampling of many lights. We have some algorithms in mind here.
Your scene seems to be a perfect test case for this as it has quite a few lights illuminating just small portions of the scene.
If you could share it, it will be a useful test case.
In fact, with V-Ray's adaptive lights (which Vantage does not have currently), it's possible that you get a faster final rendering with V-Ray.

              - we also might have to include some hacks/shortcuts for handling glass.
Right now we raytrace all of it.
Your scene seems to have lots of it.
Maybe you can try lowering the number of refraction bounces to improve rendering speed.

The problem with the RTX 3090 is they have been sold out since launch. I'll try your recommendations, thank you.

If I understand correctly from the video you were wondering about a few things:
                  - "Dancing" artifacts. They are caused by the real-time denoiser. It has some limitations when handling refractive objects. The Bloom post effect strengthens these fireflies - it can be disabled by the top right button.
                  - No progress bar. There is no sample limit while exploring the scene in interactive mode. It just samples forever or until it reaches the noise threshold. You can see how many samples are accumulated by hovering over the FPS counter.
                  - How to stop interactive rendering? The first button in the top toolbar (or the Pause key) will stop sampling. Useful when framerate is very low because it affects UI responsiveness. Alternatively, use low resolution when possible.

I am afraid having an RTX 3090 GPU won't solve your quality issues since I have one and have the same issues. Upping the denoiser values ruins the detail. (I only work in complex interiors, not architectural exteriors)
I have been able to render a clean 4k test animation in another realtime renderer @ 3-4 seconds/frame and a clean and sharp 6k still image in 2 minutes 11 sec. I want to be able to do that in Vantage since I don't enjoy spending extra time adding lights and tweaking materials on another application.
But I also not happy with the time I need to produce a clean / firefly free interior animation in Vantage right now knowing there are other options that give me the balance of quality/speed I am after.
Will keep an eye on Vantage development hoping they hear me out and do something about it. I sincerely wish all the best to Vladimir and the rest of the team. (though I know my posts sound hypercritical sometimes)

I understand what you're saying. You are probably using Lumion / Twinmotion / Enscape...
Like you said, the problem with these softwares is that one must import the scene and rebuild the materials and lighting. More often than not, that's a lot of time, the results are not the same as from v-ray; From my point of view, a smaller animation resolution doesn't kill anyone.
Anyway, I will also gladly wait for improvements in rendering speed. I'm very excited with Chaos Vantage.

I was hoping for a miracle, you know, like the marketing video shows . I might try it for simple grayscale proofs that I send me clients, Instead of stills, maybe a turntable animation using Vantage. I'll have to see how long 900 1080p frames take with those.

I'm rendering 720p animations. It may seem low, but most of the clients I work with watch the animations with a smartphone. The difference between 720p and 1080p on those screens is not earth-shattering. One must know the target audience. Of course, if you know for certain that your animations are going to be seen in a large screen, 1080p and above is the way to go.

the marketing videos certainly show something else thats not easy to reproduce from a technical level - perhaps they have those 96gb graphics cards or its been ultra ultra hand optimised to make it work

I just upsampled a 1080p to 4k, without any loss using Topaz's AI Video Enhancer. It was awesome!
