  • a simple interface shortcut is driving me Nuts... and the Cosmos browser question

    Toggle Interface Ctrl+`
This is the shortcut for hiding the menu panes on the left and right side of viewport, know it can't be a simple Ctrl+ but it has a comma at the end? know on my kb's in order to get a + i have to use shift, in order to get a ' i cannot use the shift key or it is a " see the problem here?
Can anybody explain how this is possible ? it would be so much easier also if you have the option to re-assign those keys but not a option at this point? and just for common sense purposes who's bright idea to not simply make it Ctrl+ sometimes i really wonder about this kinda thing.....
edit.... ok the toggle interface i solved after a fair amount of frustration and kinda feeling dumb a bit... for me if i just use the ` (Tilde) key alone it hides the menu panes.... So I can size it to the size of a viewport... But i am trying to find out of this is any better or any advantage over using a ipr viewport window.??

Rather than add this in another thread i have also noticed that when i use the live link with 3DS Max 2020 that the Cosmos browser is greyed out . if i am not live linked and import a vrscene the cosmos browser works as intended?

Using the plus symbol is a widely used notation for keyboard shortcuts, like "Ctrl+Alt+Del". It doesn't mean you have to press "plus" itself. If you press only the accent key ( ` ), you go into first person mode - this hides the UI *and* captures your mouse, like a first person game. If you use Ctrl+` it will hide the UI but will not capture your input - this is convenient for live link, where you use external UI to control the scene (3ds Max).

The Cosmos browser and other features are disabled during Live Link because you can only modify the scene from 3ds Max while the link is active. If you want to use Cosmos while linked, just do it from 3ds Max.
