  • Bump Setting for vantage.

    Hello.
Hello i would like to know what is the correct bump map setting for vantage. it seems we cant render bump map correctly even after increasing the amount to 100 ( attach images shows absolutely no bump on the floor.. value set is 100) ... as we increase the amount the diffuse color changes and variation in the floor increases too. image attached

What king of map perfectly works well with bump for vantage?

    thank you.

Vantage supports only bitmaps for bump mapping. Are you using any procedural maps, like Composite ?

Also, the algorithm that computes the normal is different compared to V-Ray CPU in 3ds Max and V-Ray GPU.
It's possible that there is no bump multiplier that will match the bump mapping in V-Ray.
Matching V-Ray might be too costly in terms of performance, but we will probably do another attempt at it at some point.
If you can provide the geometry, materials and maps, we can take a look and have your setup in mind.

We will be working on support for normal mapping soon.
Since it has the normal already stored in the bitmap (and not computed), we might be able to get it closer to V-Ray.

      Thanks for the reply.

      Is Vraybitmap fully supported ?

You mean for bump ? Probably not. Which options do you have in mind ?

will for example noise maps ever be supported in bump ?

            Hi AyrtonSenna,

Procedural textures for bump(such as noise) will be supported in the future but cannot give an ETA. We know that they are crucial for archviz and are in the TO DO list.

            Best regards,
            Alexander
