    Hi All

I'm trying to use "blurry" people in a visual but for some reason Vantage is sharpening the blurred image I'm using

VRay itself renders the image as expected but not Vantage

    Clip mode is on (obviously)

Please see attached, anybody any ideas?

    Hi russ_chadwick,

Vantage currently supports only black and white values(no greys) for opacity and works like Clip opacity mode (The opacity texture is not filtered and it is clipped to either fully opaque or fully transparent based on the mid-point value) in the VRay material. In order to achieve mid values you can try to set it in refraction slot instead.

    Best regards,

      Hi Alexander
Oh, I see, that makes sense
I've attempted to set the image into the refraction slot but am still not getting the correct result - I'm probably doing it wrong though, any pointers?

        Hi russ_chadwick,

Your refraction image has to be inverted from the one that is input for opacity. I would suggest to invert it in a photo editing software than to use the Invert option in the Output rollout of the Bitmap/VRaybitmap . Also to set the refract IOR to 1. Here is a screenshot:

The left logo is with opacity and the right one is with refraction. Does that work for you?

        Best regards,

          Hi
Yes, this appears to be the effect I'm after - I'll give it a go
          Thanks
