Select objects by material

Hello,
in some cases there are materials that are not applied to any objects, even I click on Select objects by material, no object is selected in the scene.
so why this material is shown here?

Hi yones,

"Select objects by material" will select objects that have that material applied to them directly. If that material is part of a multi-sub material which is applied to objects in the scene then the "Select objects by material" will not select them. You can use the "Select the material of the selected object" to see which material is assigned to that object.
