  • Supported maps cannot be used on bumps?

    Example: I saw in the help document that vantage supports 3dsmax's noise and checker
    But when I give it to the Vray standard material diffuse, the generation takes effect
    There is no effect when it is given on the bump


    Attachment 001: normal on diffuse reflection
    Attachment 002: bump - failed
    Attachment 003: check or After noise is rendered into maps, it is imported through bitmap, which is normal
    I'm not sure if other maps are also problematic. I didn't test that much. Please tell me if I used the wrong way?

    Hi q976431,

    Procedural maps (such as noise, cellular, checker, tiles, etc) are not supported in bump, only static(bitmap) texture maps are currently supported. We plan to fix this in the future but no ETA. We will update the docs accordingly.

      Is there any way to make dynamic water surface?
      Maybe you can automatically generate water surface wave animation in the future?

        I also found a problem
        Sequence maps (. IFL) do not appear to be supported at this time
        This usage is very common in, such as making LED screen animation

          Yes, support for image sequences has been on our backlog for a while. We will get to it eventually.

            I haven't received any updates about vrayfor3dsmax and vantage for a long time. Will a new version be released soon?

              Yes, we do release updates for Vantage at least once every few months. We have already implemented support for normal maps and it will come with update 1.7.0.

              Can't comment on V-Ray for 3ds Max updates.
