  • Bootable Interior Walkthrough for clients

    Hello!

I was wondering if there is a way to export a .exe of an interior 3ds max scene so my client can actually walk through his future apartment without waiting for the rendering time. I mean just like a pre rendered video game. Can anyone help me? that would change my life

    Hello bryan_dagnes,

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible with Vantage. In addition to some technical challenges, this implies that the client will have to meet the hardware specifications of Vantage, namely a DXR enabled device. This alone has complications
    1. If the client does not have such a GPU the project wouldn't start at all. I assume a lot of clients will want to preview the projects on average PCs, or even mobile devices.
    2. Even if the client has a compatible GPU, models - and more importantly, their performance - vary significantly. This means acceptable frame rate cannot be guaranteed, nor can loading of larger projects.
The only options as of now are videos, panoramas and remote sharing Vantage. I believe you can create an interactive VR experience with spherical panorama renderings in a webpage but I have to check to be sure.

    Best regards,
    Simeon

One cheat would be to record a screen grab with Snagit of you walking around and jumping to key areas of detail and send the client an mp4.

Just a reminder: you can record interactive sessions in Vantage from Tools->"Record viewport to a video file". It allows for microphone capture too.
