  • Why Vantage is slower than UE5?

Why Vantage is slower than UE5 in realtime (i know that ue5 is game engine and its different) ? Can you explane the principles and is there a potential to be similar in speed after some updates? Thanks in advance!

Vantage is a fully raytraced engine, a path tracer. It does not rasterize. Game engines have only just begun to ray trace *some* of their effects, not everything. So we trace a lot more rays which is more costly, but the latest generations of GPUs allow us to do it with decent frame rates.

ngp Thanks and why do we need all to be raytraced when in unreal 5 the final product is amazing. Is it something with lumen lighting?

One of the reasons is that our engine can be as close as possible to V-Ray. Another major advantage of raytracing is that we can have huge amounts of geometry (especially instanced) without choking the renderer, which would happen if it was a rasterizer. Yes, UE5 has Nanite, etc. but keep in mind we started developing Lavina/Vantage years before this was announced.
