  • oddness in animation

i'll have to post settings a little later, but, sometimes when i start a high-quality render (no gi, reduce flickering, in this case 16 samples for lights - but previously with same but 8 samples per light - no bloom 250 or 300 or 400 samples, i get flashy what looks like lights or something.

if i abort the first frame, then restart it, i do not get the flickering at all. so restarting the hq animation fixes it.

it does not go away the more it renders the frame. oh, and it's more like the splotch pulses on/off as it's rendering. i have 1.8.1 or 1.8.2.

    thanks

      Hi s_gru,

Have you enabled Motion blur by any chance?

      Best regards,

woa. sorry, no i didn't have mo blur on. i'm still waiting on furniture, but i've played around with the animation vs just rendering it within max using gpu and i'm liking the speed and results a lot better. i have to think that in some cases, even though ray tracing is turned on in the GTX 1080ti cards, it's faster to use gpu rendering in max. i'm waiting on 4090's but it's been a painful wait. i'll only be able to do 2 for now it looks like. but can't wait to try them!

Woah, "only" 2x 4090? Keep a fire extinguisher at hand

Jokes aside, that would be a hell of an upgrade. With the 1080 not even having RT cores...

it saves a TON of time. our designers get instant feedback (with GPU rendering) so i'm part of the design process. then when they like what they see i load up the scene with landscaping people and bam have still renders done right away - even 3 or 4 options sometimes. even though escape is great, and we have materials and such, it frees them up to continue working on other things they have to do (schedules, plans, details) while i whip out the renders. we earn our money back in like 1 day ha! it's like people complaining about paid 3d printing software, i bought it and made my money back the first print! however, i'm not going to pay double b/c someone snatched up some and are reselling!

the thing about viz now is, it has to be at least as good as enscape/vantage or whatever for people to get a real sense of how it will all look. especially in VR. it can't be like navisworks views. those are too diagramatic (unless navisworks is better now?)
