  • Vantage and lots of lights

Hello, I'm working with Sketchup/Vray CPU with a few render nodes for now, I'm visualizing and calculating lighting design projects here. For this reason, super photorealistic renderings aren't that important - but what is important is that realistic light visualisation (based on IES files from manufacturers) is possible.

It works pretty good in Vray, but I'm thinking of speeding up the process by going realtime with vantage.

So my question is: is Vantage capable of providing a good experience when using numerous lights? such as 100+ or even more? I know a lot depends on the graphic card, I just want to get a feeling if it might be a good idea to switch to Vantage for my purposes.

    Advice greatly appreciated

Yes, Vantage can render hundreds of lights. There is a "light tree" optimization turned on by default. You can increase the light tree samples to reduce noise in scenes with lots of lights.

"Good experience" is subjective, so I can't say "yes" or "no" to that I think there may be example renders around the forum, but you'll have to find someone to specify the number of lights they used, etc.
