  • c4d Render .vrscene file containing animation in Vantage esp. material and camera switch

    Hello Vantage Users,

I'm searching for a possibility to realtime render animations out of c4d with a good integration into the pipeline with c4d and vray.
Recently I did camera animations inside Vantage and it works awsome. Inspired by the tutorial I'm guessing it might be posible to make simple keyframe animations and export the scene as .vrscene to render inside vantage.
I'm tring to switch the material like the enclosed scene example. Unfortunetly it looks like there are a lot of restrictions with animations. I'm meaning simple keyframe animations.

Is there any documentation to see the restrictions with animations. Or is there any possibility to realize such animations coming from c4d. Switching between cameras are also quite nice.

I'm greatly appreciate your help. Nice day, Chris

I think there are two separate issues with your example scene:

    1. I haven't confirmed this with the V-Ray for Cinema4D team, but by the looks of it, animating the material assignment is not something that gets exported to the .vrscene file.
I confirmed this by rendering the .vrscene file with V-Ray Standalone.
You have to animate the diffuse color instead (or other individual material parameters).

    2. Even if you animate just the diffuse color, Vantage doesn't currently support it.
In the current version you can animate camera parameters, object and light transformations and use image sequences.
Future versions will also have support for animated material and texture parameters, animated light parameters and deforming meshes.

      Hello vladimir.nedev ,

      thanks for answering real quick.

It sounds good, animating camera parameters are currently supported. In case of switching between cameras the solution can be, to work with one scene camera and teweeking its position and optcal parameteras as focal length for example.

in case of switching materials my experience are as you described. The future solution after supporting animated material parameters in Vantage, is also working with on material and switching its parameters.
Do you know, will it be possible to switch also the textures of each material canal. For example. diffuse, roughness, normal, ...? If it's possible it will solve my occasion.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Vantage versions.

      Greetings Chris

        You have several options:

        1. create a frame sequence out of the different textures (if you are changing only the bitmap)(this should work in the current Vantage version).

        2. use a layered texture and animate the opacity of the layers (not sure if this is exported as animated from V-Ray for Cinema4D).
(this is already implemented in internal Vantage builds).

        3. use a blend material and animate the opacity of the layers (again not sure if this is exported as animated from V-Ray for Cinema4D)
(Vantage doesn't support the blend material, so this won't work in Vantage before we add support).

There might be other options I am forgetting.

        Greetings,
