  • Vantage "Nanite"

    Hi, devs

I recently watched a video about Octane 2023 and what they have in the next update.
They have something they call Meshlets = "Nanite" for Octane. "Otoy compares the meshlet streaming to Unreal Engine's Nanite geometry system. The tech eliminates constraints on CPU and VRAM, improving performance when the scene is too big for the GPU, but requires a fast SSD."

Here is a link to a video
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcD...b_channel=OTOY

Will Vantage have similar tech like this? I see more and more people using Vantage and other "real-time" solutions for both stills and animations, so far with all current updates Vantage getting better and better but I feel that it deserves a lot more love and priority, especially nowadays when we have fast GPUs and when everyone wants fast rendering while having similar output quality as vray at least for animation and most important easy workflow but this is already checked for Corona/Vray users, it's already easy to convert Corona to Vray and use Vantage and I believe it will just get better once Vantage is able to support more and more Vray/Corona stuff.

Really love what you guys doing with Vantage, I don't know how much time will need before Vantage becomes more mature and have all the missing pieces, but I already see it as the only rendering tool that 90% of the Vray/Corona users will use it.

VRayProxy is a similar technology. It has more history than "Nanite".

Take a look at the first technical demo of Project Lavina (the beta name for Vantage), which deals with 300 billion triangles.

Nanite is not like instancing. It does LOD per pixel.

I asume Octane is using mesh shading like nvidia.
