  • Export VRscenes files

    Hello everyone,

I have been working on V-ray for renders for 1 year and on vantage for videos for 4 months. I model everything on Sketchup.

I started on 3Dvista virtual tour pro. For virtual tours no problem because I can export renderings in spherical panorama. But for processing 3d models, with 3D vista tour pro I need GLB or GLTF format...

That, only sketchup offers it to me but I lose all my work with my materials...

Hence my question, how can I convert a VRSCENE file to GLB / GLTF? Or even how to open a vrscene file with BLENDER software.

    Thank you.

    Hi Bruno,

    Hope you are well.

Did you have any luck with the above? I also use sketch up with vray/vantage and would be really keen to know how to get a GLB/ GLTF from Sketchup Vray/Vantage.

If you or Chaos have any information it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Josh

Hi bruno_aichoun. As of now we can not offer a readily available GLB/GLTF to vrscene convertor. We have some projects started from different teams that are more or less relative to GLB/GLTF. Could you explain your workflow step by step in a bit more details so I can synthesize the information better?

        Hi Vladimir,

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if Bruno is going to reply. But I’m pretty sure we are both trying to do the same thing and use vray or vantage (from a base Sketchup model) to create/export a gltf/glb file to import into a programme called 3D Vistas which creates orbital and walkable 3D textured models in first person view. Is there any way of doing this from a vrscene or plan to do this in the near future? I see that vantage has the import option of a gltf file and I believe some of Chaos’ competitors are starting to utilise the creation of glft files so hopefully this may be on the cards in the near future?

Any information would be great-fully appreciated.

        kind regards

        Josh

So if you create a scene with models and materials in Sketchup then it could be exported in gltf/glb right? After that the 3D Vista can open it and process directly or not? Why do you need to go to vrscene and where does Vantage comes into this workflow? Please explain it step by step.

Or you create only your models in Sketchup and then apply materials with Vantage? If you export gltf/glb from a Sketchup scene that has V-Ray materials what happens, we loose the materials?

              Hi Vladimir,

Sorry for the slow reply and thank you for getting back to us.

Unfortunately we are unable to get vray materials that have been applied in sketchup vray or vantage into a gtlf/glb file format which is the only format 3D vista accepts. The particular material attributes created using vray/vantage are lost on any file conversion into gltf/glb file format.

Is there any future plan to be able to export out of vray or vantage a gltf/glb format or a vrscene converter?

Or perhaps Chaos maybe looking into creating their own 3D fully rendered dreal time viewer as this is ultimate what we are looking for?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

              Kind regards

              Josh

                Hi Vladimir,

Is there any update or help on the above with regards creating gltf/glb files from a vray textured models or vrscenes or even creating a usd file from vrscene file?

                thanks again

Hi again. You need either a host platform that supports gltf/glb or a standalone convertor.
Until one of the major host platforms (like Sketchup) offers native support for gltf/glb I don't believe there will be significant changes in the situation.
