I've been trying to but I get a license error 197: There are no available licenses of this type on the chaos license server.

I did however successfully connect once but I'm not sure what I did.

I swore I purchased an annual premium license, but after installing Vantage 2, I am getting all these license expiring warnings. (edit) I just looked, and it looks like I purchased an annual, and it expires next month. However, it sure only feels like a couple of months. I'll experiment with it and see what the hype is about.

I've had a very quick look in-between deadlines. Looks very polished. Very happy vertex colour has been added, was the main thing holding me back. Will look further tonight once deadlines are out the door.

I just ran a 900 frame animation on my RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, changed nothing in MAX, and it came out pretty good. It took a couple of hours.

                It looks very good.
Chaos have put a lot of work into it.
For the basic work that most Arch Viz people do, this is a very good release.
There is a lot in it, and a lots to learn , if you want to get the most out of it.

The price point argument...If your going to use it animate work, and can get to charge €40+ a second for an animation, its worth the money, lets be very honesty, it will pay for itself in one project.
To have the software available in a sticky situation, when a client ask for the unaskable in very short time scale, to have options is very important.

We are also looking into it now and I agree with philip kelly that the speed issue can easily save us time that will pay for the whole year subscription in one go. Still don't understand why it can not be part of the subscription too. I mean you buy it separately or you have it as part of your package deal , with some small extra cost to the whole thing. I do have hope for the future of Vantage and for us it is 3 things that is important:
                  - Fast and good render - (check)
                  - Live link support spline animation so we can sit with customer and use the Free look navigation tool to "walk" in our scene while animation are played out. Objects keyframed animation (from Max) worked really good in 1.8, but the spline (controlled by IK control) was just sitting there (we have a lot of those) - (Checking if that works now)
                  - Ocean / water effect - Hoping that the Phoenix ocean material material and displacement will work. And not only as render, but in real time - (checking it out).

A quick render and real time tool is what we need. Unity or Unreal do provide us with options to do these things, but the whole combo of Vray / Phoenix and Vantage would be perfect if we can get Vantage where we wish it can be.

I just ran a quick high quality render (2048x2560) with all settings maxed (4 GI, 15 bounces Refl, 15 bounces Refra) on my RTX A6000 and the results, frankly I'm very pleased with'em.

No post process in Photoshop or other photo edit app. Only a lut file and filmic tone map from Vantage.
The render took about 6 min and ate 28,5 GB of VRAM

GTX was never _officially_ supported. We had to raise the requirements for some new render features.

I moved to RTX and ya it cost a lot, 2k+ for the 4090, but it seriously had made a difference to the work flow.
No more worrying if your gonna get stuff finished in time.
                          It's worth the investment.

Depending on what you want and need to do with Vantage (In my case I create 8k renders) you need one or two RTX A6000 but the bad news is the price of those GPUs.

What I can render with RTX A6000 I cannot with my 4090 which is basically a fancy gaming GPU. 4090 Drivers are not designed and tested to provide long-term stability and availability.

The pinnacle GPU for Vantage right now is RTX 6000 Ada gen., but the price is very expensive...way out of reach for many individuals...
