  • Vantage live link without vray

    Hi guys.

Will it be possible to "only" have a license for Vantage 2 and use the live link inside 3ds max without also paying for a vray license as shown is this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrLLt0VbIwo&t=1s (it seems the person making the video also has vray installed)

Will i be able to apply materials and textures inside 3ds max?

    Thanks.

Hi, thanks for posting. You will need at least one V-Ray render node license.

Hello Vladimir, you say that you only need a "render node license to use Vantage with live link. But how will you be able to setup materials and textures in 3d Max with just a "render node" license? I don´t understand that, can you please explain. Thank you!

If you want to use Vantage as a viewport preview, you will need available render node.
Every subscription plan comes with interface and render node license for V-Ray, Chaos Cosmos and support service.
You will also need a Vantage license.

              Hi Vladimir.

So it will be a minium of 34.90 euros (vray solo) + 49.90euros (vantage)= 84.80 euros/mo. to use vantage directly from inside 3ds max?

Imo the livelink and the exceptional flexibility for lookdev and sketching is/was what made the 3dsmax/vantage combo great. I think its too much money now and we are forced to consider alternatives.

                Hi everyone,

You do not need an active V-Ray license but you do need V-Ray installed(trial or commercial) to be able to export to work with Vantage via Live link or export .vrscene from 3ds Max and Cinema4D(render node is required for vrscene export, but not for Live link). You can still create lights, materials, cameras and modify them but you will not be able to render them with V-Ray.

                Best regards,
                Alexander

                    Hi Alexander.Atanasov,

Is this true only for 3DS Max and Cinema4D at the moment? In order to have Vantage livelinked with Rhino or SketchUp, managing and modifing materials, is not possible at the moment without an active V-Ray license? Is it true? Because without an active V-Ray license the V-Ray Asset Editor Window doesn't open.
Are you thinking about to change this so we can hope that also for Rhino and SketchUp user will be necessary a Vantage license + a V-Ray node to have the possibility to live link and export V-Ray scene to open in Vantage stand alone?

I ask you because for my students it will be great because I'm gonna to teach them to use Vantage as a primary engine for their projects and in this way they only need to buy Vantage license + 1 V-ray Render node and not Vantage +V-ray license.

                    Best Regards,
