  • scene optimization

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to know what is the best way to use less ram in Vantage.
Can I use .tif textures or is it better to have all jpg textures? Is it better to reduce the resolution to 4k or is it enough that I reduce the weight of the file to 1mb or even less?
is it useful to load vrmesh files into the scene via the vray-scene function or is it the same thing?

    Thank you

I wanted to know what is the best way to use less ram in Vantage.
    1. use simpler meshes (less triangles)
    2. render at a lower resolution
    3. use lower resolution textures
    4. don't enable render elements you don't need

Only the texture resolution and bit rate matters. jpg is always 8 bits per channel, while tiff can be 16 bits per channel, which will require twice the memory.

In Vantage, it's the same memory and performance wise.
However, vrmesh files are pre-exported, which can reduce the time it takes to create a vrscene from 3dsMax/etc or the time it takes to start a live link connection.
