  • Recording Camera Movement - first 60 frames no movement. Why ?

    Hi!
I'm getting new into vantage 2 with 3ds Max 2019 and trying out to record camera movements.
    Actually a nice feature.
But i noticed that anytime i'm recording a camera-movement ( movement with rightclick + w ), the animation itself starts after about 60 frames but it's ending exactly at the end of the "animation phase" of the camera.
So it seems that the Recorder starts recording right at the moment i'm clicking on the "record camera movement" button -> is it possible to change that, so it starts recording as the camera begins to move?

P.S. Auto-trim recorded animation is activated

Hi, thanks for posting. I can not reproduce what you are describing. On my setup everything works as expected. Make sure you turn off the "record camera movement" button after you have completed your animation.

Hi everything works fine on my end. Please you check if you have a transition enabled before the camera movement.

No there are no transitions before the movement.
As in the video, my steps are:
            1. Click on Record Camera Movement
            2. Move Camera with rightclick + w
            3. Stop recording
            4. Drag the created clip into a empty timeline
Or are there any checkboxes to be activated or deactivated before start recording ?

As you have noted, "auto-trim" is enabled by default. It should remove the repeating static frames at either end of the recording. If you make even the slightest movement it would start from there. I tried it a few times and it seems to be working.

Hi, I am not able to reproduce your issue. Could you try to install the latest version of Vantage from here - https://download.chaos.com/?platform=47&product=63

I'm already using the latetst version.
Fortunatley it's no permanent issue -> others scenes work fine. It's only happening in this scenefile, but here with every recorded movement with no exeption.

Hi, could you send us the scene that has issues so we can review it? You can do that here or if it is too big or you want to keep it confidential you can use the support contact from. If you chose the contact form. please include a link to this thread in your e-mail so we can track your issue better.

                      Hi!
                      Thanks for your response.

To me it's no big deal -> because it's no actual project. I'm just testing vantange and i was wondering about this issue.

If you want the file to review for bugfixes etc no problem. Then i'll send it to you via the contact form because it's too big anyway ca. 500MB

Hi, yes we will take a look into the scene and improve Vantage if possible. Please don't forget to collet all assets (textures, proxies etc.) and send them with the scene.
