  • Match SketchUp View Exactly

What's the best way to get my Vantage camera to match my SketchUp viewport exactly? I have run some quick testing with a file I have but even if I match the resolution, the field of view seems off. Is there a trick to get them to match exactly? Can Vantage pull the camera info from VRay for SketchUp since this matches SketchUp already?

What version of V-Ray for SketchUp and Vantage are you using ?
Can you send us an example sketchup file that shows the issue ?

      Vantage Version: 2.0.1, Build: 1831340
      VRay for SketchUp 6.10.02

So the issue seems to be when using Live Sync and you create a 2-pt camera in SketchUp and then use zoom and pan to adjust that 2-pt view. This is something that VRay for SketchUp has done some magic under the hood to get to align correctly that a lot of other engines have not be able to do. I wonder if there is a way for Vantage to grab that information from the VRay camera in SketchUp and send it to Vantage?

I was just speaking with another user who also would love to see this matching feature. It's a critical part of an NPR workflow where someone would want their SketchUp line exports to match up exactly with Vantage exports. If you can make this a feature, I would be incredibly happy!!!

I second and third that request. I'm just getting into Vantage so there is plenty I'm still learning about. But the 2-pt camera sync is important. Nailing a view often has to be done in SketchUp--maybe to match an overlay or to get client approval on a view or whatever--so porting that exact camera to Vantage would be so helpful, especially considering it's only a live link at the moment. (also maybe the live sync pause and resume could be worked out as well?).
Hope the importance of this feature lands with near-future developments in this very promising and already groundbreaking package.

          Hi guys,

The way V-Rat for SketchUp exports two-point perspective is currently not supported in Vantage but we have it logged in our system(LAV-750). Cannot give an ETA though but I will try to raise the priority.

          Best regards,
          Alexander

                  HI

even in Cinema 4d, using live sync, the camera is not perfectly the same as what you see in vantage.

YOU DID IT!!!! Amazing work. Thank you so much for getting the features that the community requests into the software so quickly! No turning back from Vantage now!
