  • Pushing Vray material with texture through Grasshopper to Vantage

    Hi Vantage team,

I have been looking at the geometry display of Grasshopper objects in Vantage through the live link function in Rhino. It is great that Grasshopper geometry is shown and updated via live link. Vantage does display VRay material (with not texture) assigned in Grasshopper which is great.

Here is the problem: VRay material with texture assigned in Grasshopper is shown correctly in the Rhino viewport, but is not shown in Vantage viewport. Is there are workaround to display VRay materials with textures assigned in Grasshopper to be displayed in Vantage as displayed in Rhino render viewport? Screenshots with issue attached.

Does this texture show in V-Ray renders ?
If not, it's not really a Vantage issue.
If it does show in V-Ray, then we would need a scene to examine what the issue is.

      Hi Vlad,

VRay render does not show the texture either but strangely it adopts the color of the texture. In the screenshot I posted before, you can see that the color of the grasshopper geometry is displayed brown which comes from the texture assigned. If I change the VRay material with texture, the display color of the Grasshopper geometry changes (both in VRay render and Vantage). So something related to the texture in the material slot is being picked up for the display of geometry.

Maybe the geometry doesn't have correct UVs, so it's using a single pixel from the texture everywhere ?
I am not familiar with Rhino and Grasshopper, so it might be best to contact our support or start a thread in the V-Ray for Rhino section of the forum.
