  • Animated cameras issue from 3D Max

Ok, this is very frustrating, but I can't find a solution. I have these animated cameras in 3D Max; then I exported them by it self to save time every time we have corrections.
The issue is that the camera imported in to Vantage scene but the scale seems wrong. After reviewing I noticed that they all default to 40mm, if I change to 24 or 30, that is the value inside 3D Max, then I need to save that change into Vantage, but when I do that, Vantage asks me if I want to just save or overwrite the original value. If I click only save, then nothing happens, and the camera defaults to 40mm. If I click overwrite, then I maintain the new size, but I lose the animation of the camera.....
BTW I am not animating cameras inside Vantage because is much slower than doing it inside 3D Max. Your help is appreciated. thank you.

Hi, thanks for posting. Your thread is for the Vantage section, I will move it there. How do you export your scene to Vantage?
I now tested a scene with two animated cameras and if I use the "export and send the current animation range" button from the Vantage toolbar everything works as expected.

did I post this in other forum??? sorry
So if I use that button to export, then when I close vantage and re-open in another machine it can't find the scene, it opens an empty scene.
I use the export Vray scene from the drop menu instead to save as VRay scene.
But here is the issue my scene is kind of large and if I export all the cameras with the scene it takes hours to export. I don't have that time just waiting for export, so I was testing exporting the scene alone, then exporting the cameras, but that is when I found the error.
I did a workaround to export the cameras with a simple plane from the scene, that seems to anchor the cameras to the right size and location, it is weird.

You are right about that one.

I tried to export vrscene from the V-Ray exporter consisting only of animated cameras but couldn't reproduce an issue. They all import in Vantage correctly.
Are you having this issue with a new simple scene as well? Could you send it over for a test?
